Annual Equipment Inspection

Manufacturers typically require inspections by a Competent Person annually.  The definition of a Competent Person in most jurisdictions implies the inspector does not qualify by simply being a user with fall protection training, a supervisor or a health and safety professional . A competent person inspector has either specific training from the manufacturer or shows that they have the appropriate experience to take on the responsibily of making decisions on their behalf. The followup report may make comments or pose questions about use, compatibility with other items and equipment which doesn’t meet legal or best practice standards in industry.
