Standby Rescue
Rescue training may not be cost effective when jobs are short and present a significant risk of a difficult rescue. The rescuer on standby will consult with the workers to minimize the possibility of a rescue and pre-rig the equipment required for extraction. In jurisdictions that require written fall protection or rescue plans, the rescuer will provide a plan to be compliant with the regulations.
Examples of areas that may required standby rescue include:
- traditional confined spaces
- stacks
- towers
- dams
- transmission structures
- railroad bridge maintenance
- mine construction
